Education in poetry to protect children.
The Buddy Book was created using simple* poetry; something that children can find comforting and relatable as they develop.
*Over-stimulating children at a young age can cause difficulties as children learn and process. Developing under-developed brains safely will continue to stabilise and protect children. In this instance, The Buddy Books are focused on engaging conversations that children can safely engage with, without causing disruption in their lives and futures.
To be read by children’s educators / safe-guarding leads in a school environment/ or home schooling with the parent/ guardian. Each page creates different conversations in a gentle way, that can be recited regularly, bringing familiarity, learning and knowledge.
The Buddy Book encourage schools & educators to invite children to put their own actions and creativity to each poem in the series of Buddy Books, allowing children to be imaginative; key to young people’s development & learning skills. Please do read 'Facilitating child's learning' for support on how best to support your child's learning. The emphasis with The Buddy Book is on giving young people tools to take a control on their bodies.
One of the things author Emma Jane is keen for facilitators of her books to understand is the importance of creative learning. She offers workshops for parents and safeguarding teams on this topic. As the Principal of StageWorks Performing Arts School she has over 30 years of working young people aged 4+. She understands more than most the need to include creativity with a young persons learning; for a child's brain to process and retain information.
Each page and stage of The Buddy Book should be read with interest, and given space for questions; from both educator and child. The poem (relating to age) should be recited weekly and actions created by everyone involved. Why not make the child take the lead and create movement to enhance the learning experience
